TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!
Jordi was the first person to wish me a Happy Birthday. He Anne Sullivan’d his birthday wishes to me in the dark. Hearing people don’t seem to get how much non-blind deaf folks suck at understanding tactile sign language. But the context was there. What was he going to fingerspell in my hands? โHappy Birthday!โ
Del, Phoebe, and Mac were the next to wish me a happy birthday.

Yeah, they’re just NPCs in a video game. I smiled anyway.
I spent the rest of the day preparing for tomorrowโs Karty. Yesterday, Burger asked for details on the Karty at work. I told him Iโd been working on decorations, bought a prize, and would be serving snacks.
“Oh, you’re such a sweetheart. It’s your birthday and you’re feeding us?!”
โItโs not really a birthday party. Iโll be 41! Hardly a milestone worthy of celebration!โ
“Hey, every year above the ground is a good thing!”
…I had a doge moment right there and then: Wow. So deep. Much insight.
Burger had a point. I walked back to my workbench only to return a few minutes later to tell Burger how, in the Netherlands, it is tradition for the birthday haver to treat their friends to a meal. Also, the spouse of the birthday haver gets showered with words of congratulations, e.g.ย โJordi, congratulations on your girlfriendโs birthday.โ
The Dutch are weird like that.
Yep. 41. But tomorrow’s event will prove that I’m still young at heart!
…which is such an old person thing to say.

ehhh heeehh EHHHEEHHHEE HEEEHHEE!

Aaand for real this time: Happy Birthday!!
Hope the Karty is a success of funtimes and that the prizewinner is pleased with their win.
Thank you! Yeah, the Karty was lots of fun! I almost won my own prize, haha.
My WordPress subscriptions are set to all arrive on Sundays, ergo my lateness! I think youโre allowed to win your own prize at your own Karty ๐๐
