Best ‘memberance Day Ever!

What did you get your partner for ‘memberance Day? Nothing, I bet.

Here is what I gave Jordi:

I tried my hand at embroidery for the first time. This was meant to be a Christmas gift. I knew I’d need to get an early start if I wanted to give it to Jordi in time for Christmas, especially after I gave him his birthday gift almost a month late.

My motivation to finish the project never waned, so I completed it today! I finished the embroidery part a few days ago but decided I didn’t want to keep it in its hoop:

I incorporated my quilting know-how to create a fabric frame to staple to a 10″x10″ artist canvas, onto which I’d sewed the embroidered fabric.

“You mean there’s a better way?”

The embroidery itself took about 40 hours to complete. Mounting it onto a canvas and finishing it with a quilted border was nearly an all-day project. It helped to remind myself of how I’ve sunk 300 hours into Garbage Island (my island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons). 45+ hours for a small project seems less ridiculous.

On that note, I purchased a volcano for my island while drinking my breakfast smoothie. It should arrive in my mailbox sometime tomorrow morning. How ridiculous.
